Hogar Ruth
Hogar Ruth for Battered Women, Inc. is a community-based non-profit organization established in 1984 in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico. It emerged in response to the urgent need to offer shelter, guidance, and support services to survivors of domestic violence. With over 40 years of experience, Hogar Ruth has established itself as a leader in the protection, advocacy, and transformation of lives.
Mission
Hogar Ruth promotes the freedom, empowerment, and independence of women, girls, and children. It achieves this through comprehensive, quality services designed to help them escape violent situations and foster their individual and community rebuilding.

The organization envisions a society where human rights are fully respected, where men, women, and girls can live in safe and supportive spaces that save lives.
Main Services
Emergency Shelter: A confidential and safe space for women and their children, providing personal items, food, health services, education, legal and psychological support, case management, and socio-recreational activities.
Outpatient Guidance and Counseling: Free services including individual counseling, service coordination, accompaniment, and support groups for survivors of domestic violence.
Housing Program: Serving vulnerable survivors, it offers transitional housing, empowerment workshops, legal advice, psychological services, and childcare. This includes projects such as Proyecto Guayacán Housing, Emergency Solutions, and an efficient Rapid Re-housing system.
