Centro Mujeres Ayudando a Madres (MAM)

Founded in San Juan in 2007, MAM was created with a clear purpose: to defend and promote maternal and child health in Puerto Rico. Since then, it has offered a comprehensive range of services, including midwifery, psychological support, legal counseling, gynecological and obstetric care, as well as educational programs. Our approach centers on empowering people, placing each person who receives our services at the heart of their own story.

They are committed to supporting the development of informed, resilient families by providing the tools they need to navigate the complex journey of pregnancy. Their vision is of families actively involved in decision-making, able to healthily guide the emotional, mental, and physical aspects of pregnancy, birth, and parenting.

The MAM Clinic stands out as the only Perinatal Safe Spot in Puerto Rico—a beacon that ensures high-quality perinatal care. It is a trusted space dedicated to expanding access to compassionate, empowering services.

Their mission is clear: to break down the systemic barriers that limit access to dignified, quality perinatal care, and to address the urgent challenges faced by the true protagonists of this story: Puerto Rican families going through the perinatal period amid natural disasters, economic inequality, and a health care system in need of transformation.
