Copartners

What does “copartners” mean within the framework of FMnPR?

Copartners is the term used by the Women’s Foundation in Puerto Rico to refer to allied organizations that receive grants and act as key partners in the shared mission for gender equity. Far from being mere beneficiaries, they are recognized as experts in their own territories and contexts, and their local knowledge and community practices are valued as cornerstones of collective action.

This choice of word highlights the collaborative relationship and mutual respect between the foundation and these organizations. Instead of replicating a vertical model where the donor dictates, the emphasis is on building together, with funding that is holistic, accessible, and flexible, responding to the real conditions on the ground.
