I reaffirm the importance of mobilizing resources to address the vulnerabilities Puerto Rico faces in the wake of hurricanes and earthquakes. Mitigation is not only urgent—it is essential, particularly when led by feminist organizations. This fund and our collective experience mark the first steps toward building preparedness before future climate events. Every investment FMnPR makes in Casa Juana Colón translates into greater reach, resilience, and social justice.

This grant directly strengthens the administration of Casa Julia, which in turn supports the delivery of high-quality services and the creation of safe spaces for survivors of domestic violence in Puerto Rico. Casa Julia has continued to expand its services even in times of crisis, as we work to identify the barriers and needs of women and children. For this reason, the grant is focused on reinforcing the organization’s administrative framework, ensuring it can sustain the growth of services that allow us to reach and support more survivors every year.

This investment has not only strengthened our capacity to respond to climate emergencies, it has also helped ease anxiety and stress for those who rely on our services.

This project was a true adventure—one of constant learning, and a reminder that barriers can be overcome with creativity and patience. We will continue to pour our energy and commitment into advancing the Juana Colón Route Project.
