That Transforms

From a feminist and anti-racist practice, we advance a philanthropy committed to inclusion and justice. We support organizations that accompany women and girls in all their diversity, as well as non-binary people, confronting the multiple forms of violence, exclusion, and inequality that persist in Puerto Rico.

Many of these organizations lack access to flexible funding and face structural barriers to sustaining their work. Yet they are key actors in advancing urgent agendas: climate justice, food sovereignty, rights-based public policies, gender equity, and racial justice.

We fund what few others see but what profoundly transforms. We prioritize underfunded community organizations with significant impacts in their communities. We invest in those who, from the margins, build real responses to the crises we face.

Feminist Philanthropy in Action

Feminist philanthropy subverts traditional power dynamics by transferring resources, trust, and autonomy to those on the frontlines of gender justice.

At the Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico, this model is grounded in horizontal relationships, solidarity, and ongoing accompaniment, building alliances with grantee-partner organizations through consultation processes and flexible, operational funding that addresses both their operational and strategic needs.

In this way, feminist philanthropy not only promotes sustainability, but also nurtures a network of community power capable of driving transformative change—from the local level to structural shifts.

Areas of Work

ECONOMIC JUSTICE

Supports the sustainability of organizations that serve, accompany, and organize women, girls, and LGBTQ+ communities through operational and flexible grants. This fund allows them to invest in their administrative infrastructure, strengthen their organizational base, and carry out their work with greater autonomy.

GENDER AND RACIAL JUSTICE

Support organizations that confront the intersectional inequalities of gender, race, and class, promoting communities free from violence, with real access to power, healing, and justice.

CLIMATE CHANGE AND FOOD SECURITY

Support women farmers who lead sustainability in their communities by providing agricultural resources and technical assistance to strengthen their collective work. This fund acknowledges the challenges of climate change and food insecurity in Puerto Rico and invests in local production as a path toward justice and food sovereignty.

REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE

We support educational activities and initiatives—particularly those with a popular education approach—that provide people with the tools to analyze, understand, and take a stand on issues of sexual and reproductive rights.
