Tejedoras de Equidad: Connecting Gender Equity Champions for Puerto Rico
Event Summary
In March 2025, the Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico (FMnPR) hosted Weavers of Equity: Connecting Gender Equity Champions for Puerto Rico, an evening of connection, celebration, and purpose. Held in New York City, this special gathering marked five years of impact for the only philanthropic organization in Puerto Rico dedicated exclusively to advancing gender equity and feminist mobilization.
The event brought together gender justice leaders from Puerto Rico and the diaspora, alongside allies and supporters committed to building a more equitable future. Over cocktails and light bites, participants shared achievements, strengthened alliances, and reflected on the urgency of feminist philanthropy in Puerto Rico—where organizations led by women and gender-diverse communities continue to provide critical responses in the face of inequity, violence, and limited resources.
This evening was not only a celebration of progress but also a call to deepen partnerships that can drive lasting systemic change. Attendees were invited to envision how, together, we can nurture strong feminist organizations that transform power structures and advance gender rights across Puerto Rico.
