Hogar Nueva Mujer Santa María de la Merced, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 1990 in Cayey, Puerto Rico. It emerged in response to the growing need to provide shelter and support to women and children facing domestic violence. Since January 1992, it has offered essential services to protect the lives, dignity, and well-being of survivors.

Mission

Its mission is to help eradicate violence within Puerto Rican families by offering services focused on safety, education, empowerment, and the economic and emotional self-sufficiency of those who need them.

Services

Hogar Nueva Mujer offers a variety of programs designed to meet the needs of women in crisis:

Emergency shelter with social work services, legal counseling, and psychological support.

The “A New Home” program, which provides specialized care to survivors of domestic violence and their sons and daughters.

Transitional Housing Program (“Rapid Rehousing”), providing financial assistance to help secure safe housing.

Other programs include REVIVRE, Soy Libertad, CAISS, PASE, and PATPA, focused on education, housing, and holistic recovery.

Hogar Nueva Mujer envisions a Puerto Rico where every person can live free from violence, with access to opportunities that strengthen their dignity and autonomy.
