Team 821

Team 821 is a community organization formed by residents of Guánica, Puerto Rico. Founded in 2020 as an organized local response to threats such as storms and natural disasters, it established itself as a steadfast coalition of leaders and volunteers dedicated to strengthening community resilience. Its name refers to the municipality’s zip code—”821″—reflecting its deep roots and commitment to Guánica.

Mission and Community Work

Team 821 works directly on local recovery and development through initiatives such as the “Te cambio tu caseta” project, which installs wooden modules to replace structures affected by weather events.

Furthermore, during critical weather emergencies like Hurricane Laura or pandemic events, the organization has demonstrated its ability to mobilize immediate support, opening channels of aid and accompaniment for fellow residents.

Team 821 envisions a united, strong, and prepared community: a Guánica where people support one another with empathy and solidarity, and where collective work builds hope and generates real solutions to recurring challenges.
